Carefree Caracas Guide Code of Conduct

Carefree Caracas Approved Guides: Code of Conduct

All of our approved guides have agreed to work according to the following code of conduct:

(1) Guides acknowledge that their prime responsibility is to ensure that their clients safely enjoy their visit to Caracas. They will be punctual in meeting clients and alert whenever they are with them.

(This means, for example, that if you hire one of our approved guides to take you to one of the legendary nightspots of Caracas so that you can drink and dance until dawn, you can drink as much as you like but your guide will only have soft drinks.)

(2) Guides will not provide or procure sexual services, illegal drugs or illegal money-changing services or behave in any way that compromises the integrity and credibility of Carefree Caracas or contravenes the laws of Venezuela.

(Obvious, but we wanted it to be explicitly stated.)

(3) Guides will clearly explain their charges and conditions by email before confirming a contract with a client and they will always give an accurate indication of the total expected cost.

(For example, if you hire a guide to take you on a day trip to a nearby attraction such as the intriguing town of Colonia Tovar, they will tell you not only their basic fee but also whether you will have to pay any extras such as the guide's lunch and, if so, what the cost is likely to be. They will never surprise you by adding "hidden extras" such as VAT, Tourist Tax or service charges to your bill. If you are particularly happy with the service you received, you can add a tip if you want but you will never be asked to pay more than the amount you agreed.)

(4) Guides will not subject their clients to any kind of political, religious or racial propaganda.

(If you ask them any questions about Venezuela, of course they can give you their opinions but their job is to help you enjoy your holiday, not to convert you to their particular point of view.)

(5) Guides will inform the Carefree Caracas Coordinator of Guide Services by email whenever they accept a commitment to a client.

(This is to make sure that Carefree Caracas has a clear visibility of the availability of each guide in the event that it is necessary to arrange a back-up guide.)

(6) Guides will make every reasonable effort to provide emergency cover for other guides if requested, in which event they will charge the original agreed fee even if this is lower than their own normal fee.

(If one guide has to cover for another, which will only happen if illness or other unforeseen emergency prevents the original guide from carrying out their contract, they will sort out any cost differences between themselves. You will never be asked to pay more than the amount you agreed with the guide that you hired.)
